Little Atlas of Phlebology
Phlebology concerns the specialism of venous diseases. Due to gravity, most phlebological disorders are located in the leg. Common disorders of the veins include varicose veins, swelling of the legs (edema) and leg ulcers. Phlebological disorders are in the top 10 of complaints patients visit their general practitioner for.
My practical atlas contains simple illustrations, with short and understandable descriptions, covering the most common disorders and treatments within the field of phlebology. The 29 illustrations are drawn by myself, with ecoline.
The atlas is aimed at supporting patient education in the consulting room. The wire-o bond makes it easily possible to only demonstrate the illustration. Due to the accompanying texts, the book is also suitable for patients themselves to read, in the waiting room or at home. The atlas can also be read as a short introduction into phlebology, for anyone with an interest in this medical field!!

Céline Eggen MD, phlebologist
"Phlebology and painting have become a passion of mine. I proudly present my phlebology atlas, illustrated by myself."
For a number of years now I, Céline Eggen, have been working as a phlebologist in the Netherlands, at Centrum Oosterwal (Alkmaar), the Franciscus Gasthuis&Vlietland hospital, and recently joined Polikliniek de Blaak (Rotterdam). Being fascinated by the skin, and loving the practical aspect of the profession as well as the frequent and rewarding patient contacts, phlebology
has become a passion.
One of my goals as a phlebologist is to inform my patients as clearly as possible. In my daily practice, I have noticed that patient education that is supported by the use of images, can have added value. I decided to make my own illustrations, which were reviewed positively by patients and colleagues. These illustrations are comprised in this book, accompanied by short and understandable explanations.
